There are organizations and agencies stepping up every day to help evacuees and fire victims in northern New Mexico. Here are links to a few who are focusing on shelter for evacuees, toiletry collection, and animal needs:
- NM Fire Relief fund (partnering with hotels to fund shelter for evacuees)
- Albuquerque Elks Lodge 505-730-9695 (call to schedule a drop-off at 2430 Centre Ave SE Albuquerque, 87106 or pick up)
- Cattlegrowers Association (collecting livestock supplies and donations)
- Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management partnership with The Salvation Army
- Santa Fe Animal Shelter
The Sandoval County Clerk's Office is also hosting a Fire Relief Drive. More details are available here, including where to drop off items and what items are needed.
New Mexico Girl Scouts will be hosting a Pet Food Drive, on May 14 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 4000 Jefferson Plaza NE, Albuquerque. The drive will benefit families displaced by the Hermits Peak and Calf Canyon fires. A full list of items being collected can be found on the Girls Scouts website.
