Convenience stores in the U.S. have traditionally offered coffee, drinks, canned food, and snacks. These days, many people are considering a quick meal at their favorite convenience store. Thanks to severe inflation, many folks are looking save some bucks and fast-food restaurants may have some new competition for the dining dollar.

A new report from Bluedot finds that 59 percent of 1,570 Americans would consider buying a meal at a food mart and one in four would consider eating lunch in a convenience store. Some of the most popular items include sandwiches, pizza and made-to-order deli sandwiches. The chains upping the ante include Wa-Wa, 7-Eleven, Kwik-Trip, Casey’s. and Sheets.

Convenience store sales have increased by around 30 percent over the past ten years. New food options from on-site kitchens and private-label meal kits are also showing up in some convenience stores, so this trend could be here to stay.
