Don't pay to move ... get paid to move! There are cities around the country that will actually pay people to move in, including:
- Newton, Iowa. The town, which has lost residents since the Maytag factory shuttered, will give you $10,000 towards the purchase of any home costing $100,000 or more.
- West Lafayette, Indiana. This one is funded by Purdue University. As long as you don’t currently live in Indiana, you could get paid $5,000 along with a free co-working space.
- Rochester, New York. The city is offering an incentive package worth close to $20,000 to move there and work remotely.
- Burlington, Vermont. The ThinkVermont program offers incentives up to $7,500 to move here if you’re bringing your remote work with you or who are willing to relocate there for a job -- a job you have to get on your own.
- Noblesville, Indiana. If you make at least $60,000 a year already, this town wants you. In fact, they’d love your presence so much they’ll pay you $5,000 cash up front and an additional $10,000 in various benefits.
