Instacart’s Halloween trends report has just come out and it reveals the most popular candies, along with the best places in the country for trick-or-treating.
This year, Instacart is introducing a new tool that lets you put in your zip code to find out your area’s Scare Score. To come up with the score, they analyze candy, costume and decor purchases made on Instacart, and it rates your community’s Halloween spirit.
Using this data, Instacart identifies the top zip codes for trick-or-treating:

- 75205 - Dallas, Texas
- 77024 - Houston, Texas
- 76092 - Southlake, Texas
- 84045 - Saratoga Springs, Utah
- 60606 - Chicago, Illinois
- 92223 - Beaumont, California
- 11530 - Garden City, New York
- 08057 - Moorestown, New Jersey
- 93536 - Lancaster, California
- According to the report, the state that buys the most Halloween candy is Utah, with an average of 9.8-ounces per customer.
- Montana is second with 8.5-ounces per customer, followed by Alaska with 8.4-ounces.
- Hawaii buys the least at 3.7-ounces per customer, Washington, D.C. is next with 4.0-ounces and Maine is third with 4.6-ounces per customer.
