Poll: 90-Percent Of U.S. Workers Were On The Job While Sick This Year

If you feel guilty about calling out sick, so you work through your illness… you’re in good company. According to Bamboo HR nearly 90-percent of U.S. workers say they worked through sickness over the past 12 months. The bulk of the workers are those who don’t get paid if they don’t clock in, but more and more employees with benefits are sticking it out as well. Bamboo HR’s survey found that nearly 65-percent of workers say they have "stress, anxiety, guilt or fear" when requesting sick time and one in four workers say they have been either pressured or explicitly asked to work while sick. Experts say that nobody wins when a staffer works while sick. Focus and productivity are down and mistrust of the company is up. They suggest a shift in thinking at company level.
