Mom Wins Court Case to Evict 2 Adult Sons

This mama was done! A 75-year-old woman in the northern Italian city of Pavia won a court order after suing to have her sons, aged 40 and 42, removed from her house, a court clerk told CNN Friday.

The two sons, described in court papers by their mother as “parasites,” had been living in the family apartment without contributing financially or helping around the house. Both sons are employed.

In a ruling last week, an Italian judge said that the two men have until Dec. 18 to vacate the premises. CNN reported that the mother, who is retired and separated from her son’s father, lives on a pension that goes towards buying food and maintaining her house.

The men hired lawyers to fight the case and argued that Italian parents are required by law to take care of their children as long as necessary. A lawyer for the men told local media that the son's had not decided if they would appeal the court decision.

According to data cited by The Guardian, about 70% of people in Italy between the ages of 18 and 34 still reside at home with their parents, adding that 72.6% of them were men and 66% were women.
