Amazon Facing Class Action Suit For Charging Members For Ad Free Prime

Amazon is facing legal trouble thanks to its decision to change Amazon Prime Video. When the company added commercials and then said it would charge $2.99 a month to have Prime Video ad free, a lot of users were angry. Amazon Prime costs $139 a year and subscribers expect to not see ads on Prime Video for that price. Now, a proposed class action lawsuit, filed Friday in California federal court, claims breach of contract and violations of state consumer protection laws. The suit seeks at least $5-million and a court order barring Amazon from engaging in further deceptive conduct on behalf of users who subscribed to Prime prior to Dec. 28, 2023.
