*LIST* THE BEST (& WORST) STATES FOR WOMEN

Gender equality is still a hot topic, and it’s important to remember that even in 2024, women still have a long way to go before they’re treated as equals to men. Of course, where they live makes a big difference, and just in time for Women’s History Month in March, a new report highlights the states that are doing a good job of treating their female residents fairly.

  • WalletHub’s annual list of the Best and Worst States for Women has just come out.
  • They compared all 50 states and Washington, D.C. on 25 key indicators of living standards for women in two major categories: Women’s Health Care & Safety and Women’s Economic & Social Well-Being.
  • These include everything from median earnings to women’s preventative healthcare, job security and share of women-owned businesses.
  • Massachusetts tops the list as the Best State for Women in 2024, coming in first for Women’s Health Care & Safety and seventh for Women’s Economic & Social Well-Being.
  • Washington, D.C., second overall, is number one for Women’s Economic & Social Well-Being.
  • Oklahoma comes in last, making it the Worst State for Women. It’s dead last for Health Care & Safety and second to last for Economic and Social Well-Being.
