*LIST* THE BEST (& WORST) PLACES TO CELEBRATE THE FOURTH OF JULY

For some people, the Fourth of July is just a day off from work, but others go all out to celebrate the holiday. Some places are also better for celebrating than others and a new report from WalletHub highlights where they are.

  • They’ve just come out with their annual list of the Best and Worst Places for 4th of July Celebrations.
  • The site ranked the 100 largest U.S. cities on 18 key metrics in the categories of celebrations, affordability, attractions & activities, safety & accessibility, and weather.
  • WalletHub looked at everything from legality of fireworks to average beer and wine prices to the duration of fireworks shows.
  • Based on all that, Los Angeles has been named the best place to celebrate the Fourth of July.
  • L.A. comes in first for both weather and celebrations, while St. Paul, Minnesota, ninth overall, is number one for affordability and Jersey City, New Jersey, 71st overall, is first for safety.
  • On the flip side, Birmingham, Alabama, is the worst place to celebrate Independence Day.
  • Aurora, Colorado, is second to last, followed by Laredo, Texas; Garland, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
