The Worst Dates To Have A Birthday, According To Moms

One of the first things expecting moms want to know when they find out they’re pregnant is what their due date will be. While everyone has dates they’d prefer to avoid for their little bundle of joy’s debut, a lot of parents agree on one in particular, according to a new survey.

WhatToExpect.com polled 404 women who were pregnant or had at least one child about the worst possible birthday dates for a child and found:

  • Nobody wants their kid to be born on Christmas. A full 40% of moms and soon-to-be moms think that December 25th would be the most unfortunate birthday for a child. For a lot of folks, Christmas is the biggest holiday of the year and with everything going on, it would definitely take away from the kid’s special day.
  • Leap Day is second on the list. Since February 29th only comes around once every four years, it’s understandable that 38% of parents feel this is the worst possible birthday. The upside? Those born on Leap Day can decide if they want to celebrate on February 28th or March 1st.
  • The anniversary of the death of a loved one is number three, with 26% of moms saying it’s the worst day for a baby to be born.
  • New Year’s Day is up next, as many mamas don’t want their child to share a birthday with the holiday. Lots of folks are nursing hangovers on January 1st, and for 23% of respondents, it’s the worst birthday.
  • Other crappy birthdays include Halloween, any date close to the holidays and their siblings birthday, because that’s one thing kids definitely don’t want to share.
