When Is The Last Time You Had A "Good Cry"?

Most people try not to cry too much in public. Sure, it’s expected at funerals and even weddings. But lots of people cry in lots of places. For example:

  • 62% have cried in their car. 47% of men and 76% of women cop to it.
  • 38% have cried at school – 30% of men and 47% of women.
  • 28% have cried at the doctor’s office – 16% of men and 39% of women.
  • 5% have cried at a sporting event, and that one breaks down pretty much evenly.

So what do we cry about? Obviously, the death of a loved one is the most likely answer. Number two is the death of a pet – 76% say they’d be likely to cry. 63% say chopping onions makes them cry. Surprisingly, just 52% say they’d likely cry due to physical pain. And 39% say listening to sad music would probably make them cry.
