Taylor Swift Releases "The Life of a Showgirl"

The big day has finally arrived! Taylor Swift has released her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” The album broke records even before it dropped, racking up over 5-million pre-saves on Spotify (which broke the record previously held by Swift’s album “The Tortured Poets Department").

The album features 12 tracks produced by Max Martin and Shellback, with the artist swearing that she won’t be including additional tracks in the various alternate versions she’s been releasing through her website and TargetSabrina Carpenter is featured on the title track “The Life of a Showgirl,” and Swift interpolates the George Michael classic “Father Figure” on her song of the same name.

Ahead of the album actually dropping, Swifties have been absolutely devouring easter eggs, like lyrics being revealed to them at Spotify pop-up events and seemingly through capitalized letters on her lyrics on Apple Music. The pop icon also previously teased her fans on Instagram “A showgirl knows to save some of her best tricks for the grand finale…

Swifties will also be celebrating the release at the movie theater today. “The Official Release Party of a Showgirl” runs 89-minutes long and features the first music video from the new album for “The Fate of Ophelia,” lyric videos for other songs on the album, never-before-seen reflections from Swift about the songs, behind-the-scenes footage of the music video shoot, and more. It is expected to rule the North American box office this weekend.
