Target is mandating that employees smile more on the job. A company directive says workers have to smile and make eye contact with any customer that comes within 10 feet. They also have to ask if they need help or make small talk if they get within four feet. The new rules are aimed at improving the customer experience after declining sales thanks to a boycott of the retailer over DEI measures. The company is also planning to remodel and upgrade stores. Walmart and Disney have had smile rules in place for years.
