Whatever kind of genre you’re into, there’s a Christmas movie out there for you. Whether you like them so bad they’re good, hilarious, family-friendly, or so scary you’ll never get to sleep again, you can find a festive film to match your mood. That’s probably why 64% of U.S. adults plan to watch at least one during the holiday season, according to a new YouGov survey.
- It asks 2,230 Americans how they feel about Christmas movies and 79% like or love them.
- The poll also asks people to rank their favorite Christmas movies and classics top the list.
- “Home Alone” is the most popular, followed by “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
- There’s an ongoing debate as to what counts as a Christmas movie and the survey has people weigh in on some of the most hotly debated flicks.
- Nearly three-quarters (73%) consider “The Nightmare Before Christmas” to be a Christmas movie, but fewer say the same about “Gremlins” (36%) and “Frozen” (35%).
- “Die Hard” is the most divisive, with people almost evenly split on the subject, as 44% say it is a Christmas movie and 45% say it’s not.
