Pizza is one of the most popular and beloved foods on the planet, but everyone has their own idea of what makes a dream pie. Some are margherita-loving purists while others want the weirdest toppings they can find and there are pizzerias in just about every city that can bake one up just the way you like it. But if you’re looking for the best pizza on the planet, a new ranking from “Time Out” has the answer.
Their international network of editors and writers had the pleasure of sampling some of the most popular pizza joints around the world.
They tried all kinds of varieties, from New York-style to Detroit-style and Neapolitan-style to find their favorites.
What they found is that New York City has earned back the title of pizza capital of the world.
Manhattan chain Mama’s Too has just been named the best pizza on the planet.
Critics chose their Cacio e Pepe slice as the best of the best, which the food editor describes as “a square that was quite literally hiding under a snowstorm of Pecorino and Parmigiano-Reggiano shreds.”
Only one other pizzeria in the U.S. made the list, Milly’s Pizza in the Pan in Chicago, which is 12th.
