It seems like there are some major life goals that pretty much everyone has, but those who don’t share them are speaking up. A Redditor recently asked, “What’s a ‘popular’ life goal that you secretly don’t want?” Hundreds weighed in with the ones they couldn’t care less about, and these are pretty relatable.
- "Buying a big house. I know it’s supposed to be the dream, but I’d rather have freedom and experiences than square footage."
- "Not a secret, but having visible abs. I'm a curvy, fit woman – I lift and I'm active and healthy. The degree of restriction it would take to see my abs would not be healthy for me."
- "The strong need or desire to have sex, get drunk or do drugs. I don't see the allure of drugs or alcohol, and I don't get the, 'OMG, you haven't been laid in how long?!' It doesn't drive me. I'm fine without all that."
- "I don't really care if I get married or not. I'm not against a long-term relationship and kids with the right person, but I just don't have any strong desire to tie the knot."
- "I don't care about getting a degree. I just want a job that pays enough to live comfortably, and I have that. If I want to learn something, I'll learn it on my time without any stress involved."
- "Waiting to travel until you’re retired, and putting off experiences to save more for retirement. Tomorrow is not guaranteed, and good health when you’re older is not guaranteed. I’d rather have fun while I’m healthy in my 30s than bank on being able to do it all in my 60s."
- "Getting a driver's license. I'd rather live in a walkable city where everything I need day to day is nearby, and the few big things I need can be done with Uber or delivery services."
- "Having a romantic 'life partner.' I like to date and I like to be in love, but I can’t see myself living with a romantic partner ever again."
- "Climbing the corporate ladder. I’d rather have time and freedom than a title."
- "Being a millionaire. I just want enough to not stress about bills. The rest seems like more problems."
- "Frequent travel seems to be a big one for a lot of people these days, but being at home with my pets is my favorite place to be."
- "Any car that does more than get from A to B. Paying more for heated seats and an iPad dashboard sounds absolutely stupid."
- "Having a super big friend group. I'd rather keep it small and real."
- "A lot of people have skydiving or bungee jumping on their bucket list. I have literally no desire to do either — never, ever. No thank you."
