*LIST* The Top Ghost Tours In The U.S.

Now that it’s officially fall, people are lining up for apple picking and taking road trips to do a little leaf peeping, but some are looking for activities that are a little darker this spooky season. Fans of more macabre entertainment are in luck, as there are hundreds of paranormal experiences out there to try. Unfortunately, some are more tourist traps than true scares. But a new study is here to help us find the ghost tours that are actually worth your time.

• Magic Hour, a video production company, has found the highest-rated haunts in the country.
• Their researchers analyzed Tripadvisor data for 218 ghost tours across the U.S., evaluating each for its average rating, percentage of five-star reviews, and total number of reviews. Those review counts were weighted so the more famous ghost tours don’t overshadow the smaller, but equally spooky ones.
• Based on all that, each one was given an official “Ghost Experience Score” and the one with the highest is the History and Hauntings of Salem Guided Walking Tour.
• The Massachusetts tour has nearly 95-hundred four- and five-star reviews and a near-perfect 4.9 average rating, earning it a 93.75 Ghost Experience Score. It digs into Salem’s haunting history and the infamous ghostly lore of the 17th-century witch trials.
• Coming in a close second is its hometown rival, the Satanic Salem Walking Tour. This 90-minute walk through the city is led by a member of the local Satanic Temple and gives a scientific view of Salem’s history instead of the paranormal perspective.
