The candy company, Mars Inc. is producing a live commercial for Snickers during the Superbowl.
The ad will be the first live Super Bowl commercial to promote the candy bar. Some 150 ad executives will shoot the 30-second, western-themed spot in real time during a break in the game between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons.
The ad will star actor Adam Driver, who is best known for his role on HBO’s “Girls” and for playing the “Star Wars” villain Kylo Ren.
One of the ad execs working on the project explained, “People aren’t forced to watch commercials anymore. They can easily tune them out. We need to do something that makes people want to watch and talk about the ads.”
The Super Bowl draws over 100 million viewers, and Fox is seeking up to $5 million for a 30 second spot this year.
