No matter how many books you read, or how much advice you get, there are some strange things about parenting that moms and dads have to learn for themselves.
Well, now parents are sharing those strange things they’ve learned, after someone on Reddit posed the question, “Women, what is one strange thing about parenting?”
Responses include:
- “You sneak around after they go to bed & it’s almost like when you were a teenager trying not to wake up your parents .. only now you’re the parents .. life is so strange.”
- “Your toddler is going to see your naked body and make remarks about it that will humble you.”
- “At some point you have to explain to someone at which point during the pooping process should you wipe.”
- “The most strange thing about parenting is just how many people assume they should just do it without any serious thinking or planning at all.”
- “How much acting it requires.”
- “You can pick out the smell of your kid's poopy diaper over another kid's.”
- “Having a children’s show/movie that you actually kinda enjoy.”
- “The mom groups.”
- “That you can feel like 3 emotions at the same time just watching them eat their lunch or play or whatever.”
- “That you learn you can catch puke in your skirt or your purse.”
- “Seeing aspects of yourself that you don’t particularly like show up in your kid full force.”
