On Sunday, the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office identified the four emergency responders killed in a helicopter crash.
Officials confirmed BCSO Undersheriff Larry Koren, Lt. Fred Beers, Deputy Michael Levison, and Bernalillo County Fire Department Rescue Specialist Matthew King were killed in the crash.
The “Metro 2” helicopter was assisting with the East Mesa Fire Saturday, providing bucket drops and other air logistics needs to fire crews on the ground.
On the way back to Albuquerque, authorities say the helicopter crashed around 7:20 p.m. Saturday outside of Las Vegas.
BCSO, New Mexico State Police and the National Transportation Board of Safety are now investigating the crash
