Thereās good news for young kids losing their teeth. According The Original Tooth Fairy Poll conducted by Delta Dental, released to coincide with the upcoming National Tooth Fairy Day on August 22nd, the value of a lost tooth is on the rise. Not only that ā itās at an all-time high.
The survey finds:
- The Tooth Fairy visited 79% of homes with kids ages six to 12 who lost a tooth.
- The average cash gift for a tooth this year is $5.36, the highest amount in the pollās 24-year history.
- Itās up from last yearās previous peak of $4.70.
- Itās also more than quadruple the amount since the Original Tooth Fairy Poll began, when it was just $1.30 a tooth.
- And with all that money at stake,Ā there are actually someĀ kids who wonāt wait around for a tooth to fall out.
- While 61% of parents say their kid waited for their tooth to fall out on its own, 18% of kids actually pulled their own tooth.
And there could be a good reason parents, we mean the Tooth Fairy, is shelling out all that dough.
- 55% of parents say the Tooth Fairy gives their kids something to be excited about, which is up from 53% last year.
- 55% of parents say it gives their kids a chance to celebrate something fun.
- 36% of parents say the Tooth Fairy is a good way to spread joy this year, up from 34% in 2021.
- And itās pretty apparent moms and dads realize they canāt get away with giving their kids something other than money when a tooth falls out.
- The survey finds 80% of the time the Tooth Fairy will leave a kid money rather than a physical gift.Ā
