Flight Attendant Reveals Dirtiest Place on Planes (And It's Not the Toilet)

A Miami-based flight attendant revealed the grimiest places on airplanes and it turns out that the dirtiest place on an aircraft is not the tray table or toilets — it’s actually the seat-back pockets.

Brenda Orelus, who goes by the name of Flight Bae B on TikTok, revealed to her 98,000 followers that the pockets are riddled with germs since they’re rarely cleaned.

On top of that, she revealed that she has seen passengers put non-sanitary items inside, from food to used diapers.

“Did you know seat-back pockets are the dirtiest surface on the aircraft?” the flight attendant said in her video posted earlier this week. “They’re dirtier than the lavatories, they’re dirtier than the seat cushions and they’re dirtier than the tray tables.”

“It’s because they’re never cleaned. Unless somebody vomits or there’s something ooey, gooey and pus coming out of there, it doesn’t get cleaned.”

As of Thursday, the video has been watched nearly 30,000 times.

Orelus explained that usually the cleaners will do a surface check and remove the food and any trash, but won’t wipe the pocket down.

“All of those germs have accumulated and there’s no real regular maintenance or cleaning of those surfaces whereas lavatories are regularly wiped down and sanitized,” she said.

Several travelers expressed their disgust at the new information.
