A List: Happiest and Unhappiest States, Where NM Lands

When you think about the state you live in, do you consider it happy? What makes a state happy may mean different things to different people, but a new report has ranked the states to come up with the Happiest and Unhappiest states in America.

NiceRX came up with their list based on metrics including poverty, mental illness, life expectancy, median household income, a safety score and homicide levels. Based on all of these factors, each state was given a happiness score, ranging from zero to 10, with 10 being happiest. Topping the list for happiest state in the country is Hawaii, which has a score of 9.02, thanks to its low rates of serious mental illness as well as having one of the longest life expectancies at 81 years.
