When you think of where to spend spring break, places with sandy beaches and lots of young people partying probably come to mind. Indianapolis is most likely not on your list of hot spots, but it's one of the top-trending destinations for spring, according to Airbnb.
Part of the reason may be that the city was hosting the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine earlier this month, and it’s not the only one of Airbnb’s most-searched cities that aren’t typical spring break destinations. Several of them are also hosting major sports events this spring, including Augusta, Georgia - home of the Masters golf tournament - and Kansas City, Missouri - host of this year’s NFL Draft.
Airbnb’s most popular spring travel destinations in the U.S. also include:
- Virginia Beach, Virginia
- Steamboat Springs, Colorado
- Fort Worth, Texas
- Tampa, Florida
- St Petersburg, Florida
- Indianapolis, Indiana
- Port Aransas, Texas
- North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Airbnb’s most-searched for international destinations include:
- Rome, Italy
- Seoul, South Korea
- London, England
- Porto, Portugal
- Barcelona, Spain
- Dublin, Ireland
- Whistler, British Columbia, Canada
- Madrid, Spain
- Lisbon, Portugal
- Paris, France
Some travelers prefer to go where everyone else isn’t and for them, Airbnb suggests these alternative spring break destinations with less demand and plenty of accommodations.
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Raleigh, North Carolina
- Galveston, Texas
- Pensacola, Florida
- Columbus, Ohio
- Rosemary Beach, Florida
- Houston, Texas (host of this year's Final Four of the men's NCAA Tournament)
- Savannah, Georgia
- Corpus Christi, Texas
- Long Beach, California
