If you feel like you need a break from the endless scrolling of social media and 24-7 breaking news alerts and emails, unplugging might be just the thing. Of course, that’s easier said than done, and a lot of people may need help with limiting the time they spend online. And a new report reveals the best cities in the world for a “digital detox.”
Travel insurance site InsureMyTrip compared travel destinations in four main categories: relaxation, activities, safety and access to the Internet. The cities were ranked on factors including average travel time, spa ratings, population density, percentage of residents near car-free zones and park ratings.
- Based on all these, Prague, Czech Republic, tops the list for the best city for a digital detox.
- In this capital city, 82% of residents live near car-free zones, so it’s a very walkable city.
- Rome, Italy, comes in second. It scores highest in the parks category and 52% of Rome’s residents live near a car-free zone.
- Amsterdam, Netherlands, is a close third. The city ranks high in the spa and overall relaxation categories. More than two-thirds of Amsterdam’s residents live near a car-free zone and it’s also one of the most bike-friendly cities.
