Facebook has some bad news for online stalkers. A glitch within the app has sent friend requests to any profile pages users view. That means that people checking up on exes, old coworkers or anyone else they want to spy on in secret are being outed when an automatic friend request is sent to the subject of their stalking.
Warnings about the glitch have been shared on TikTok, Twitter, and Instagram, but it’s too late for many. One user posted, “Got a friend request from an ex - thanks Facebook for letting me know they are still obsessed with me.” Another posted “I can't show my face ever again. I want to die”. The bug seems to have been fixed for anyone worried about it can go to facebook.com/friends, hit the “friend request tab,” and see who they’ve reached out to.
