Julia Roberts Reveals The One Big Rom Com She Let Get Away

For decades now, Julia Roberts has remained one of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars. And the Oscar-winner made her mark with some classic romantic comedies, like “Pretty Woman” and “My Best Friend’s Wedding.” But even she admits there were a few movies she let get away from her.

“Well, none that I have regrets about,” admitted the star, before adding: “But what have I passed on that went on to be great and wonderful, and I thought it maybe wouldn’t have been as great and wonderful with me? ‘You’ve Got Mail.’” Tom Hanks, who would later team up with Roberts on 2011’s “Larry Crowne,” reunited with Meg Ryan for the 1998 movie instead.

In an interesting twist, Roberts revealed on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen” that the Meg was originally supposed to have her role in “Steel Magnolias,” which many consider Roberts’ breakout role. Ryan was busy filming "When Harry Met Sally," so the role went to Roberts. The A-lister also revealed she won her role in “Closer” because Cate Blanchett “got pregnant… I’ve lucked into some good stuff.”
