It’s no secret that Americans love pizza, we love it so much it gets its own holiday. Just in time for National Pizza Day tomorrow (February 9th), a new report reveals the best places in the country to find it.
- Pizzello, an outdoor pizza oven company, created a list of the Best Cities for Pizza in the U.S.
- To determine who has the best pizza, they analyzed Google reviews for pizzerias in the 500 biggest cities and towns in the country.
- It’s probably no surprise that New York City tops the list as the Best City for Pizza in America, with an average Google rating of 4.68 out of 5.
- But the rest of the top 10 may be a bit controversial, like Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is number two on the list.
Pizzello also asked a thousand pizza fans about their preferences and found:
- The average American pizza lover is willing to travel up to 26 minutes to get their favorite pie.
- More than half of respondents prefer independent pizzerias over big chains.
- Hawaiian pizza - with ham and pineapple - is the most divisive, followed by White pizza and Mushroom pizza.
- More than a third (37%) consider pizza to be a healthy meal option.
- And 40% of those surveyed think their homemade pizza is better than any from a restaurant.
