A List: The Snacks That Americans Are Most Nostalgic For

Are there treats you enjoyed as a kid that you still find yourself longing for sometimes? Old TV shows, toys, music, and even snacks spark a deep sense of nostalgia for many of us. And new research uncovers the ones we think keep thinking about.

A study from Spin Genie analyzes Google search data to find the top 10 nostalgic snacks people search for most.

  • Dunkaroos - What’s not to love about cookies dunked in sugary icing? Dunkaroos have a compartment for the cookies and one for the frosting to dip them in. They were so missed when they were discontinued, but thankfully, they made a comeback in 2020 and are still available today.
  • Oreo Cakesters - The softer version of Oreos, they’re cake-like cookies with frosting in the middle. They were discontinued for 10 years, but Nabisco brought them back in 2022.
  • Bagel Bites - For anyone not lucky enough to have tried these, they’re mini pizzas made on a bite-sized bagel and they can still be found in stores.
  • Tab Soda - It was one of the first diet sodas on the market, released back in the 1960s, and those pink cans were popular for a long time, but Tab disappeared from stores in 2020.
  • Fruitopia - Who remembers this fruity drink from the early 90s? Fruitopia was launched by the Coca-Cola company and advertised as a healthy alternative to soda that came in flavors like Tangerine Wavelength and Strawberry Passion Awareness.
  • Crystal Pepsi - When this caffeine-free, colorless version of Pepsi came out in 1992, it was a big deal, but it didn’t stick around long. The clear soda did return as a limited-edition flavor in 2016 and again for its 30th anniversary in 2022.
  • Kudos granola bars - Coated in chocolate or caramel, these were quietly discontinued back in 2017.
  • Orbitz drinks - Don’t remember these non-carbonated fruity beverages? They weren’t around long when they came out in the 90s, but they contained edible balls that floated in the liquid.
  • Waffle Crisp cereal - The waffle-shaped cereal tasted like maple syrup and it was discontinued from 2018 to 2021 before returning for a limited run.
  • Rice Krispies - This fan-favorite can be enjoyed as a stand-alone cereal or turned into the classic dessert made with butter and marshmallows.
