*LIST* AKC REVEALS MOST POPULAR DOG BREEDS IN U.S.

Americans love French bulldogs, so much so that they’re the most popular dog breed in the U.S. for the second year in a row. The American Kennel Club (AKC) just released their list of the top dog breeds in 2023, with Frenchies claiming the top spot once again.

The AKC is the world’s largest registry of purebred dogs and every year, they use their registration statistics to rank the most popular breeds of the past year.

  • The French bulldog’s popularity continues to climb, they’ve gone from number 14 in 2012 to number two in 2021, then coming in first in 2022.
  • The bat-eared breed is known for being affectionate, playful, adaptable and having an even temperament.
  • Before French bulldogs were number one, the Labrador retriever held that spot for 31 years! They’re now second for the second year.
  • At the bottom of the list of the 200 breeds ranked by the AKC are the Azawakh (number 196), the Grand Basset Griffon Vendéen (number 197), Norwegian Lundehund (number 198), English Foxhound (number 199), and Sloughi (number 200).
