A List: The Healthiest & Unhealthiest Cities In The USA

When it comes to our health, we can stay active and make good choices with our diets, but location matters, too. Where we live plays a big part in how healthy we are and a new report reveals where people are the healthiest in the country

  • WalletHub just released their annual list of the healthiest and unhealthiest cities in America.
  • They compared 182 of the most populated U.S. cities on 41 key indicators of good health in four main categories:
  • Health care - including things like the cost of a doctor’s visit and mental health counselors per capita
  • Food - including farmer’s markets per capita and share of obese residents
  • Fitness - including the cost of a gym membership and fitness centers per capita
  • Green space - including a city’s walk score and quality of public parks
  • Based on these factors, San Francisco is once again the healthiest city in the U.S., landing at number one for both food and green spaces.
  • As for the unhealthiest city, that’s Brownsville, Texas, which comes in dead last for food and fitness and in the bottom three for green space and health care.

Albuquerque comes in at the 64th Healthiest City in the USA

At the other end of the list, Las Cruces comes in as the 18th most unhealthy city
