The Solar Eclipse Won’t Affect Cell Phone Service

Today's solar eclipse won't have a direct effect on cell phone service, but officials in the path of totality are expecting massive surges in traffic over data and cellular networks. That's because hundreds of thousands of people are expected to gather for the event, spiking phone usage in areas often not accustomed to a large influx in visitors. AT&T is assuring customers it's prepared ahead of the eclipse. If you can’t call someone because lines are jammed, texting will probably work.
