That “Long Wait Time” Message When Calling Support May Be Intentional

HP is being called out for deliberately trying to push callers to customer support to use their online support platform instead. UK publication “The Register” claims that internal communications by HP show it intentionally made a 5 minute wait time mandatory so frustrated customers would give up trying to talk to live representatives. While it mainly affects European countries, it may be in place in the U.S. So if you hear the message "We are experiencing longer waiting times and we apologize for the inconvenience” when on the phone with a company, you may be experiencing a push to get you to use online support instead of human contact.
