It turns out, where women live can make a big difference in the way they’re treated and the opportunities available to them. And just in time for Women’s History Month, a new report reveals which states are doing a good job of treating their female residents fairly.
- WalletHub’s annual list of the Best and Worst States for Women has just come out for 2025.
- They compared all 50 states and Washington, D.C. on 25 key indicators of living standards for women in two areas: Women’s Health Care & Safety and Women’s Economic & Social Well-Being.
- States were rated on everything from median earnings for female workers to the share of women-owned businesses.
- So, what is the best state for women this year? Massachusetts is number one overall, and comes in first for Health Care & Safety and fourth for Economic & Social Well-Being.
- At the bottom of the list is Mississippi, making it the worst state for women. It’s dead last for Economic & Social Well-Being and 48th for Health Care & Safety.
